Raid Iceland August 4^th – 29^th 2026 (DK – IS – DK)

Yes, there will be a raid (the 7th in a row!) next summer.

The dates have been moved to August instead of July to allow raiders, who wants, to take part in the Deutschlandstreffen at Kropp near Flensburg (29.7-2.8) on the way to Hirtshals (DK). On August 3^rd we gather at Tornby Camping a few kilometers from the ferry port.

 The main reason, however, is to watch the sun eclipse in NW-Iceland on August 12^th. So the raid starts anti-clockwise to reach the eclipse site in 6 days. The main route for the whole raid (with the possibility of skipping highland stages) follows later.

 Like in 2022 we are not able to reserve a total booking on the ferry ”Norröna” for our raid group. The travel agency Kalø Rejser, which we have used for all the previous raids, closed down due to Corona crisis. So this time all participants must book directly with Smyril Line. The booking is made at ordinary prices and on the company’s general terms and conditions with 25% payment upon booking and the rest of the amount 31 days before departure. The website www.smyrilline.dk  has the following languages: Danish, Norwegian, Swedish, German, English, Dutch, French, etc.

It will still be possible to share a cabin, even if the passengers are spread out in more vehicles. If you choose to drive a larger car, it is a good idea to book soon. August is still high season and the ferry only calls at Iceland once a week. On this raid, we shall have no stop-over in the Faroe Islands on the outbond travel. The actual raid in Iceland lasts 3 weeks. Note check-in times and local time zones.

Of course, we adapt the route depending on the latest volcanic eruptions, for example in Fagradalsfjall / Geldingadalur southeast of Reykjavík. Keep an eye out here: https://icelandicvolcanoes.is/  Accommodation takes place at campsites. Payment is made on site.                                                                                         No one should drive alone in the highlands. Driving usually takes place in groups of 4-6 cars.                                                    All A-models contribute with parts for the spare part pool. Other vehicles bring their own parts.                             Participants are expected to bring vehicles in good condition and are willing to help others.

Please prepare your vehicle well so that the raiders with mechanical skills also can enjoy the raid.
